CUTLER — The first of what could become an annual car show is set 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station in Cutler.
Dubbed the “Show-n-Shine Car Show” by its organizers, the event is expected to draw car enthusiasts and dream machines from throughout eastern Maine and Canada. The show is being held in conjunction with a daylong, stationwide open house featuring tours, displays and entertainment.
There is no entry fee for people wanting to enter a vehicle in the show, and preregistration is not required.
In all, five best-of-show trophies will be awarded for the top five vehicles based on people’s choice balloting. Owners of classic and antique vehicles are invited to participate in the event. For information, call Steve Lawin at 255-4870.
Activities that day will be highlighted by an appearance by the New England New Vaudeville Revue, featuring Benny and Denise Reehl and Michael Menes.
Other events include demonstrations by Navy drug detection dogs, a static display showcasing the Navy Seabees, demonstrations and displays by the station’s fire department, a silent auction, crafts and sports card show, and tours of the station’s Very-Low Frequency transmitter site.
