NEWPORT – Ben Baldwin scored the lone goal, unassisted, at 31:24 of the first half to give host Nokomis a 1-0 schoolboy soccer victory over Hampden Academy Thursday.

The Warriors evened their mark at 3-3, while Hampden Academy dropped to 1-4-4 with the loss.

Nokomis goalkeeper Jonathan Parker made eight saves on 18 shots while Broncos goalie Chris Peppard had six saves against 11 Nokomis shots.

The Hampden JVs won 8-0.

Nokomis 1, Hampden 0

At Mount Desert, Ken Peterson and Joey Oxley scored unassisted goals in each half to lift 5-1-3 Hermon to the win.

Sean Smith stopped three of the 13 shots he faced.

For MDI, 5-3, Alfred Doyle stopped two shots, facing five.

John Bapst 8, Old Town 0

At Eastern Maine Technical College in Bangor, Jared Albair had a hat trick and Mike Largay two goals to lead 2-5 Bapst over 0-7 Old Town. Garret Seigel, Alex Halteman and Ryan Coffin also contributed one goal each. Coffin also had an assist.

Bapst had 22 shots, Old Town 13. In goal, Jarrod Guimond turned back 10 shots for the Crusaders, and John Mitchell had six saves for the Indians.

Bangor Christian 3, SAHS 1

At Bangor, Jeremy Dupere, Chad Simmons, and Ryan Mick each scored a goal to lead the Patriots past the Southern Aroostook Warriors of Dyer Brook.

Allison Lovely, Nate Bassett, and Simmons each notched an assist for the 4-3 winners and goalie Alan Sage made eight saves on 12 shots.

Dan Lilley scored unassisted for 0-11 SAHS and goalie Brad Jones stopped 11 of 18 shots.

Geo. Stevens 9, DI-Stonington 0

At Deer Isle, Scott Murphy scored three goals and Brick Mattson netted two scores and assisted on another as the Eagles improved to 5-2. Ron Pikeman made two saves in goal.

Goalies Matt Coombs and Scott Wyard combined for 18 saves for Deer Isle-Stonington, now 1-7.

Belfast 1, Medomak 1 (2OT)

At Waldoboro, Walter Anderson tied the score off a Cliff Littlefield feed for Belfast with 28 minutes left in the first half after Aaron Miller struck for Medomak Valley about six minutes earlier.

Tim Spear assisted on Miller’s goal, and goalie Ryan Laisse recorded eight saves for 5-1-3 Medomak Valley. Eric Fuller made six stops for Belfast, now 3-2-2.

Ellsworth 1, Bucksport 0 (OT)

At Bucksport, Darby Higgins converted a long throw-in from Andy Higgins with one minute left in the first overtime as Ellsworth improved its record to 7-0-1. Bucksport is 0-6-1.

Matt McDonald and Mark Hellum combined to make six saves on 10 shots. Dave Winchester made 14 stops on 18 shots.

Ellsworth also won the JV game 3-2.

Girls soccer

Central 3, Bangor Christian 1

At East Corinth, Central’s Tabitha Trafton scored unassisted, Jen Bailey put one past the goalie on a penalty kick, and Riikka Henrikksson scored off a Trafton assist to power 3-4 Central past 0-7 Bangor Christian.

Sara Rockwell scored the Patriots’ only goal, unassisted, at 7:17 of the second half.

In goal, Central’s Kerri Higgins turned back 17 of 18 Bangor Christian shots and BC goalie Stephanie Regan had 17 saves on 20 Central shots.

Belfast 1, Medomak 0

At Belfast, Megan Lane’s breakaway goal at 23:43 of the first half provided the game’s only goal and the Lions’ first win of the season.

Bridget Maguire had eight saves on 13 shots for the 1-6 winners.

For Medomak Valley of Waldoboro, Becky Rasmussen had eight saves on nine shots.

Field hockey

Skowhegan 6, Waterville 0

At Skowhegan, Terri Foulkes had four goals – two in each half – to power the Indians over the Panthers. Three of Foulkes assists came from Bethany Demo, who had her own goal in the second half.

Jennelle Dinan scored unassisted in the second half for the Indians, who took 23 shots on goal with Waterville’s Maquel Salley making 17 saves.

The Panthers managed just one shot on goal, which was saved by Danielle Burke.

Skowhegan won the JV game 1-0.

Belfast 3, Mount View 0

At Thorndike, Staci Smith recorded her fourth shoutout for 6-0 Belfast, successfully turning one shot back to do it.

The Belfast scoring came from Liza Bachelder, Adrian Schmidt off a Bachelder assist, and Erica Sprague.

Mount View goalkeeper Kristi Fuller faced 17 shots, turning back 14 shots.

Messalonskee 3, C-R ‘Jammers 1

At Camden, Meg Provandie scored one goal in each half to lead Messalonskee of Oakland to its six win without a loss or a tie.

Provandie had two unassisted goals, while Ally Nye scored on a penalty stroke. Jess Desrosiers made seven saves on eight shots.

For 2-4 Camden-Rockport, Addie Chamberlain scored off a Johanna Babb assist. Amanda Crysler came up with 23 saves, facing 26 shots.

The Messalonskee JVs won 2-1.
