Riots roll past Bucks 2-1

ORONO – Chris Bagley converted Jason White’s cross into the game-winner as the Orono Red Riots tripped the Bucksport Golden Bucks 2-1 in schoolboy soccer action Friday.

Evan Stinson scored on a Josh LaPointe assist for the other Orono goal. Scott Cunningham made three saves on four shots in goal for the 7-2-1 winners.

Greg Gobel scored the goal for 0-8-2 Bucksport, while Jeff LaChance had the assist. David Winchester made four saves on 10 shots.

Bucksport won the JV game 3-2.

Brewer 3, Old Town 0

At Brewer’s Pendleton Street School field, Kevin Card scored a pair of goals and Bob Siering had the other as Brewer ran its record to 8-0-1.

Neil McPherson had two assists for the winners; Chris Roeder had another and Jon Thomas made two saves on four shots.

Josh Mitchell made 17 saves on 45 shots for 0-9 Old Town.

MDI 2, Sumner 1

At Mount Desert, Mark Ingrisano and Christian Colter scored four minutes apart late in the first half as Mount Desert Island beat Sumner of East Sullivan.

Ingrisano assisted on Colter’s goal, with Garric Worcester getting an assist on Ingrisano’s tally. Alfred Doyle made three saves on six shots for the 7-3-1 Trojans.

Travis Trail had an unassisted goal for the 5-5 Tigers. Mike Bills came up with nine saves, facing 12 shots.

Camden-Rockport 3, MCI 0

At Camden, Marc MacFarlane scored two goals to help the host Windjammers improve to 5-1-2.

Marcus Bosch scored the third goal for the winners, who received assists from Peter Laite, Brian Ridley and Nathan Travers. Justin Hovey made six saves on 12 shots.

Adam Ross made 10 stops against 14 shots for 2-3-3 Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield.

In the JV game, Camden-Rockport beat Wiscasset 1-0.

Ellsworth 2, John Bapst 0

At Ellsworth, Darby Higgins scored one goal and assisted on the other to help the host Eagles complete their 29th straight game without a loss.

Andy Higgins scored the other goal for 8-0-3 Ellsworth, while Matt Smart added an assist. Matt McDonald made six saves on seven shots.

Jarrod Guimond made 19 saves on 26 shots in goal for 2-9 John Bapst.

The JV contest ended as a scoreless tie after two overtimes.

Hampden 2, Bangor 1

At Hampden, Pat Duffy scored with five minutes to play, lifting the host Broncos to victory.

Travis Hussey had put 2-4-3 Hampden Academy in front with a first-half goal at the 15-minute mark. Aaron Peppard and Dan Martin combined to make seven saves on eight shots.

Matt Cook scored the lone goal for 2-4-3 Bangor. Tim Wright recorded 14 saves on 24 shots.

Bangor won the JV game 3-1.

Field hockey

Brewer 2, Old Town 2 (OT)

At Old Town, Tiffany Carlisle deflected a hard shot by Alicia Gilmore into the net with three second left in regulation and the two teams battled through two overtimes to the tie.

Old Town had taken a 2-1 lead on Neeburbunn Alemanus’ goal with three minutes left. Denise Case assisted on the score. Lisa Stewart scored the other goal for the 4-3-2 Indians. Christy Danielson made six saves on 16 shots.

Gilmore score the first goal for the 5-2-1 Witches, while Heidi Henderson made six saves on 13 shots.

Old Town won the JV game 1-0.

Lincoln Acad. 1, C-R ‘Jammers 0

At Newcastle, Sam Morrill scored off an assist from Kara Wilber with 23:41 remaining to lift host Lincoln Academy to victory over Camden-Rockport.

Jenny Doe made two saves on two shots for the 4-1-2 Eagles.

Amanda Crysler came up with 12 saves on 13 shots for the 3-6 Windjammers.

Lincoln Academy won the JV game 1-0.

Girls Soccer

Ashland 1, Katahdin 1 (OT)

At Ashland, Kara Hay scored off a Kristy Paradis corner kick with 13:16 left to give Ashland its tie with Katahdin.

Paradis’ corner kick bounced to Celeste Michaud, whose shot attempt deflected to Hay, who was standing 15 yards from the goal.

Jinger Dyer had scored the Katahdin goal in the first half off a Becca Robinson pass.

Alicia Michaud had eight saves on 12 shots for 6-2-2 Ashland while Carrie Jo McNally made 16 stops on 19 shots for 4-3-2 Katahdin.

Southern Aroostook 6, Lee 1

At Dyer Brook, the host Warriors improved to 7-2-2 behind three goals and one assist from Janet Corneil.

Misty Roy, Corinne Watson and Rachel Bishop scored the other goals for Southern Aroostook. Diana Goodall made five saves on 28 shots.

Tonya Mushro scored the game’s final goal for 0-11 Lee Academy. Liane Currier made 22 shots in goal.
