Maybe I know why our governments (state and federal) run deficits. In the Sept. 24 BDN you profiled the four individuals running for two House districts in Maine. Of the four listed, three of them were retired educators and their ages were between 54 and 60.

I hope all governmental retirees appreciate the fact that they can retire before age 65 because there are a bunch of us who can’t because we have to help fund their retirement fund.

As the bumper sticker says, “If you can read this thank a teacher.” My bumper sticker says, “If you are a retired educator thank me and other taxpayers who help fund that monthly check.” Tim Waite Orono
