The pace of Maine’s 1994 moose hunt slowed somewhat Wednesday, but hunters continued to keep the tagging stations busy on the third day of the six-day event.
Hunters claimed 177 moose Wednesday, 133 less than Tuesday’s count and six fewer than the same day in 1993. The three-day total reached 894, which easily beat last year’s 704 count.
Of the 1,200 hunters holding moose permits, only 306 (25 percent) have yet to bag a moose with three full days of hunting left.
