CASTINE – Zach Adams rushed for three touchdowns to lead the Bucksport Golden Bucks to a 28-6 high school football win over Brewer at Maine Maritime Academy’s field.

Adams had 132 yards on 27 carries for the game.

Tony Adams scored on a 30-yard pass from Jared Zimmerman, who completed six of 11 passes for 140 yards.

Dennis Roy scored the lone touchdown for the Witches on a 3-yard run.

At Mount Desert Island, Orono’s Chris Thurlow rushed for 137 yards on 27 carries, including touchdown runs of 24 and 5 yards, to lead the Red Riots.

Sal Casanas scored on a 7-yard run, Eric Main scored from 2 yards out, and Robbie Pyle also had a 2-yard TD burst for Orono.

For MDI, Nick Grant had a 40-yard TD run. Thom Mosley rushed for 95 yards on 21 carries.

At Fairfield, tailback Chad Bissonnette scored four touchdowns and quarterback Brian Scott completed 10 of 14 passes for 199 yards and two more TDs as the Purple Panthers remained unbeaten.

Bissonnette scored on runs of 1, 12, and 2 yards, and was on the receving end of a 9-yard Scott toss for Waterville. Bruce Genest added an 11-yard scamper, while Dan Higgins caught a 22-yard TD pass.

At Augusta, a fumble by host Cony at the Gardiner 1-yard line with 20 seconds left preserved the win for the visiting Tigers in the 116th meeting between the two teams.

Gabe Gould drew first blood for Gardiner with a short touchdown run in the second quarter. Bob Wiles kicked a 27-yard field goal in the third quarter to give the Tigers the winning margin.

For the Rams, Oscar Gagnon scored on a 90-yard kickoff return in the third.

At South Paris, senior tailback Jeremy Tardiff rushed for a season-high 305 yards and three touchdowns on 31 carries behind a solid effort from his offensive line to lead the host Vikings to the win over Mt. Blue of Farmington.

Junior linebacker Josh Herrick led the Oxford Hills defense with 11 tackles and junior defensive end Wayne Millett had two sacks and eight tackles. Mike Loveless scored a touchdown.

For the Cougars, Greg Dalbot hauled in two long touchdown passes from Dustin Ireland in the second half to lead the offense. Jamie Emerson rushed for the other touchdown.

At Old Town, Stearns quarterback Adam Greenlaw was the hero for the Minutemen, scoring on a 53-yard option keeper, throwing for a 21-yard TD, rushing for one two-point conversion and throwing for another.

Jason Cyr scored on runs of 4 and 22 yards for the Minutemen from Millinocket, who pulled out to a 22-0 lead. Ryan Reeves caught Greenlaw’s TD pass.

For Old Town, Matt DeGrass scored on a 4-yard run. Ryan Miller connected with Steve Hildreth for a 42-yard scoring play as the Indians cut the Stearns lead to 22-12 at the half.
