Pete Warner edged Andrew Neff for the NEWS Football Forecast staff title by winning a 10-game “pick-off” over the weekend.
Warner correctly picked seven of the 10 games, while Neff hit six right. The difference over a 200-game schedule plus 10 playoff games was Appalachian State’s 12-7 victory over Western Carolina.
Warner and Neff were tied at the end of 10 weeks with 157-43 records, a .785 winning percentage.
The title gives Warner four for his Forecast career, tying him with his father, former Sports Editor Bill Warner. Former Executive Sports Editor Owen Osborne earned the most championships with six. Neff was going for his second title.
