FARMINGTON – Troy Norton and Wes Daggett scored 16 points each to head a list of five University of Maine-Farmington players in double figures as the Beavers won the McDonald’s Tournament Sunday with a 89-47 men’s basketball victory over Maine Maritime Academy of Castine.
Daggett grabbed 11 rebounds and Norton had five assists, while Dan LeGage, Laughn Berthiaume and Troy Hanson scored 10 points apiece for the host Beavers. Daggett, Norton and Hanson made the All-Tournament team.
Chris Owens had 11 points for Maine Maritime Academy of Castine and was an All-Tourney choice, as was Aaron Willey of Lyndon State.

At Chicopee, Mass., Angel Esposito’s three-pointer with 40 seconds left gave Elms College a two-point lead, and a foul shot accounted for the final margin after UM-Presque Isle was stopped on a possession with five seconds remaining in the championship of the Elms Tipoff Tournament Saturday.
Esposito finished with 21 points for the winners, while Kelly O’Connell had 19 and Becca Monroe netted 16.
Kelly Picard paced the Owls with 17. Stori Shaw had 16, Michelle Davis finished with 12 and Michelle Davis scored 10.

At Dayton Arena in Brunswick on Sunday, Carey Jones and Jane Kim each recorded a hat trick as Bowdoin College beat the University of Maine club team.
Hannah Core had two goals for the 1-0 Polar Bears, while Sarah Mazur, Michel Phaneuf, Carrie O’Connor, Jessica Keating, and Holly Shaw added one goal apiece. Dagan Klein made 11 saves for Bowdoin, which outshot Maine 65-12.
Dawn Porter scored the lone goal for the Black Bears, while Amy Oliver and Suzie Williams combined for 52 saves.

At New Haven, Conn., Sarah Gelman scored a goal and assisted on two others as the White Mules downed the Elis.
Barbara Gordon, Carrie Charlebois and Meaghan Sittler added a goal and an assist each for 3-2 Colby, while Laura Iorio and Anne Mortenson had assists. Marie Polichronopolous made 11 saves in net.
Amanda Adams and Courtney Granville scored the goals for 0-3 Yale. Laura Belliveay made 35 saves on 39 shots.
