BANGOR — A four-car collision Friday afternoon at the intersection of Broadway and State Street caused estensive damage, but only minor injuries were reported.
Lt. Roy McKinney said three vehicles were stopped for the traffic light and a fourth vehicle hit the third vehicle causing a chain reaction.
Investigating Officer Michael Jewett was called to the scene of the accident at 4:30 p.m.
Jewett reported that Darlene Frati, 48, of Bangor, operating a 1988 Mercury, struck a vehicle operated by Susan McLain, 37, of Bangor. McLain’s 1990 Audi hit a 1987 Oldsmobile operated by Virginia Ledfords, 48, of Hampden, which in turn struck a 1992 Toyota operated by Antoinette Meyers, 49, of Brewer.
McKinney said no injuries were reported by Frati or her three passengers. McLain complained of a possible injury to her neck, Ledfords complained of dizziness, and Meyers reported pain in the back. No one was hospitalized..
Damage was estimated at $5,000 to the Frati vehicle, $1,500 to McLain’s, $1,500 to Ledfords’ and $500 to Meyer’s car. All vehicles, with the exception of Meyer’s, had to be towed from the scene. Officer Jewett spent about two hours cleaning up the scene of the accident, which is still under investigation.
