AUGUSTA – Four Maine student-athletes are among the 1,200 regional finalists for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Awards, it was announced.

Shannan Eckstein of Bangor Christian, Mary Davis of Lubec, Zachariah Conover of Islesboro, and Chris King of Erskine were among students from 22,000 high schools eligible for the award.

The newly created awards program recognizes academic achievement, athletic accomplishments, and community service. The High School Heisman national awards were given to one male and one female on Saturday, Dec. 10.
