PRESQUE ISLE — A Maine legislator from Caribou faces a theft charge after she allegedly stole two cassette tapes worth $7 from a department store, officials confirmed Wednesday.
State Rep. Julie-Marie Robichaud was summoned Friday night after the alleged shoplifting incident at an Ames store in Presque Isle, Aroostook County District Attorney Neale Adams said.
Robichaud, 25, a Republican who is beginning her second term in the Legislature, told WAGM-TV in Presque Isle that she is innocent and that the incident was a misunderstanding.
