Last month I expressed my total disbelief that two Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents were going to sue for their jobs after being fired from the agency after the “American Holocaust” of Mount Carmel, near Waco, Texas.
I received a telephone call from one of the reporters from the television newsmagazine, “48 Hours.” He and his crew did a segment with my sister and me when we were in Waco trying to gather facts and make sense out of what happened there after the initial ATF raid on Mount Carmel.
He told me that the ATF had decided to reinstate those two agents with a completely clean record and no further questions can be asked of them in regards to their decision making. Later that evening, I saw the report on national news that he had filed.
To me, once again, I see justice being kidnapped by this so-called law enforcement bureau. Had the bureau contested the agents’ lawsuit, then the entire debacle of Waco would have had to be re-examined and all information presented and “laid on the table” for all to see.
It appears to me that the easy way out was taken. I’ll never be convinced that it was the noble, proper, legal or righteous way out. Bob Ganem Bangor
