BANGOR DAILY NEWS (BANGOR, MAINE

Someone is going to be killed on the Green Lake Road (in Dedham).

The neighborhood has complained for months to have a 25 mph limit on our road as well as some hidden driveway signs. This is not too much to ask.

We must contend with empty pulp trucks flying back for another load, in the middle of the road on all the dangerous curves. These drivers not only threaten our lives daily, but when loaded, their vehicles tear our road apart. This year our property taxes, which rise every year, had an extra $100 tacked on our payment to defray the cost of paving the road. By spring, the same poor conditions will result. A load limit must be put on and the corporations hauling pulp must be held responsible for keeping the road paved and in proper condition.

Not only are the woodcutters abusing the road, we are threatened by fully loaded dump trucks whose drivers feel 50 or 55 mph is acceptable.

Many automobile drivers have the mistaken idea that they have a right to speed also. It is dangerous for pedestrians on the road in summer time. Don’t these people realize that their lives could be affected by a tragic accident as well as their victims?

Must the residents on this road lose a loved one or a neighbor before some action is taken to protect us all? Lois Ann Woodman Dedham
