PITTSFIELD — A membership drive for the Pittsfield Historical Society is under way.

A letter soliciting input and participation in the society and its museum is being mailed to a variety of citizens.

The letter, written by Town Manager D. Dwight Dogherty, states that membership and interest in the historical society has waned in the past few years.

A meeting has been scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, in the council chambers of the municipal building.

Dogherty said that anyone unable to attend that meeting but wants to help can contact Town Clerk Marie Pennock at 487-3136.

Membership information may be obtained from Cay Jones at the Pittsfield branch of Peoples Heritage Bank.
