New England women beat Husson

BIDDEFORD – Stacy Fondak tossed in 24 points to lead the University of New England to 79-76 upset victory over Husson College of Bangor here Sunday in women’s basketball action.

Jen Boudreau added 19 points for the winners while Wendy Atwood, Jill Atwood and Sara Cashman had 12, 11, and 10 points, respectively.

Stacy Hafford led Husson with 15 points while Beth Miller added 14. Amy Dyer and Steph Shaw added 13 and 12, respectively.

Diana Belskis added 20 points and 10 rebounds to the winning effort while Michelle Davis had 21 points.

For Notre Dame College, Lynn Gage tossed in 18.

Lenny Cole had 30 points, Ron McCarthy scored 19 and Aaron McDonald added 12.

UM-Machias splits series

At Machias, Josh Fannon scored 25 points to lead the Clippers to an 80-71 victory over Thomas College on Sunday.

Jagos Medenica scored 20 points and had 13 rebounds, while Corey McPhee tossed in 12.

Thomas was paced by Chris Pearre’s game-high 28 points. Mason Dixon also had 12.

On Saturday, Jamie Davis-Goff scored 22 points and Chris Casavant had 20 to lead the University of Maine Presque Isle to a 92-87 victory over UM-Machias.

Glenn Sharp also had 14 points for the winners.

The Clippers were led by Josh Fannon’s 26 points. Jagos Medenica had 22, P.J. Bristol had 13 and Corey McPhee tossed in 10.
