DOVER-FOXCROFT — The five towns that joined the Dover-Foxcroft Regional Solid Waste and Recycling Center received a total credit of $5,709 because the costs to operate the center were less than anticipated.

The solid waste efforts among the five towns and Dover-Foxcroft is proving to be the most cost-effective method, according to Dover-Foxcroft Town Manager Owen Pratt.

He said all indications are that recycled materials will continue to increase in value, thus reducing the operating costs.

Pratt said the towns in the regional facility received the following credits from 1994: Sangerville, $3,515; Bowerbank, $154; Atkinson, $714; Barnard, $127; and Sebec, $1,197, all of which were applied to each town’s 1995 operational commitment.

“We’re taking our credits after we earn them, not before,” he said.

The total cost of operating the recycling and solid waste facility in 1994 was $149,798 — $68,055 for recycling and $81,743 for solid waste.
