Union Trust Co. has announced that WILLIAM R. WEIR JR. has joined the company as assistant vice president and residential loan officer. He holds a bachelor’s degree in social science and a master’s degree in economics and geography from Plymouth State College. He is also a graduate of the New England School of Banking at Williams College in Massachusetts. Most recently Weir worked for Camden National Bank as a residential lending officer and managed the bank’s mortgage department.

JOHN PETERSDORF has been promoted to the position of receiving supervisor at the William Atwood Lobster Co. on Spruce Head Island. Petersdorf will be responsible for the receiving operations and quality control at the company’s new 100,000-pound capacity live-lobster holding system. Petersdorf held various jobs in the lobster industry prior to joining the company in September 1993.

LAUREL A. NELSON has been named president of the Paper Industry Information Office, the trade association that represents Maine’s pulp and paper mills. Previously, Nelson served as director and counsel of state government affairs for the National Food Processors Association in Washington D.C., and served as an assistant counsel for the Health Insurance Association of America. She also had been a consultant to the Kansas Department of Revenue.

PATRICIA LAMARCHE has joined Eastern Maine Healthcare as the coordinator for the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon. LaMarche will be organizing all fundraising events and production of the telethon which is broadcast live from Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor the first weekend of June. Most recently LaMarche was director of public relations and promotions for WABI AM and WYOU FM radio stations.

ANDREA K. GROFT has joined the medical staff at Katahdin Valley Health Center in Patten. Groft graduated from George Washington University in Washington D.C. and worked in a number of hospitals along the East Coast and spent two years as a staff member of a halfway house for the mentally disabled in London, England. She has also served at the Fort Howard VA Medical Center and Mercy Hospital in Maryland and the DeWitt Army Hospital in Virginia.no

KAREN FOSTER has been promoted to senior vice president of marketing at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Maine. In her new position she will be responsible for all sales, marketing and underwriting at Blue Cross. Foster joined the company in 1978 and most recently had been chief marketing executive. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire and is a director of the Maine Lung Association.

LARRY D. PELLETIER has been named vice president and senior trust officer of the trust and investment group at People’s Heritage Bank. In his new role, Pelletier will be responsible for administering the trusts, investments and new business in eastern and northern Maine. Pelletier was formerly vice president of Key Trust Co. of Maine and has been in banking for 22 years. He is a 1987 graduate of the College of Financial Planning in Denver, Colo. and graduated in 1993 from the Cannon Advanced Administrative School at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
