New director to set goals for community project

ROCKLAND — Marya L. DeCarlen has been named director of the Women’s and Children’s Community Care Project. The project, funded by a grant to the Penobscot Bay Medical Center from MBNA, seeks to create a community health and wellness network offering services to women and children in the Knox county area.

As Women’s and Children’s Community Care Project Director, DeCarlen has responsibility for its financial management, its goals and objectives and evaluation of its results.

The project’s Steering Committee will work with DeCarlen to develop the long-range plan. She will be in charge of community relations, exchanging information with agencies involved in the project and the community at large.
