BREWER — A combined meeting of the Brewer City Council, Planning Board and Comprehensive Plan Committee will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, at City Hall to introduce a new draft of the city’s comprehensive plan.

After scores of meetings and an extensive resident participation process called “Speak-Out Brewer!” the first draft of the city’s new plan will be presented publicly for the first time.

“A comprehensive plan is a community’s most important policy document reflecting community values, priorities and a shared vision of the future,” said Les Stevens, Brewer economic development director Friday.

The city’s current plan, which is 25 years old, no longer provides the legal underpinning needed to sustain city ordinances, is no longer useful for planning the city’s infrastructure, and is uninformed in regard to what the people of Brewer want for the city’s future, said Stevens.
