DOVER-FOXCROFT — Scouting, calibration, research results and leachability are the topics for the next Pesticide Recertification Training to be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, at the University of Maine Cooperative Extension office.
The training is free, and licensed pesticide applicators who attend will receive two hours of recertification credits and a free calibration pitcher.
Dr. Jim Dill, Extension pest management specialist, will discuss scouting for pests, when to do it, what to look for, equipment needed and record keeping. Pests and threshold levels for potatoes, sweet corn and strawberries will be reviewed.
John Jemison, Extension water quality specialist, will demonstrate how to use a calibration pitcher. He also will discuss the results of herbicide trials he conducted this summer with forage corn.
To register for this program, contact the Extension Office at 564-3301 or 1-800-287-1491.
