BRUNSWICK – Becky Vaughn pitched a one-hitter to lead the University of Maine-Farmington by Bowdoin College 12-0 in the first game, but Bowdoin came back to win the second 7-6 in softball action Friday.

Michelle Adkins went 3-for-4 and Vicky LeBlanc had a double, triple and two RBIs for the winners.

In the second game, Donna Strohmeyer doubled in two runs in the first inning before scoring on a Tara Schroeder double for Bowdoin. Sam Coyne also had two hits for Bowdoin.

Farmington rallied with four runs in the seventh and had the tying run at second base before succumbing to the Polar Bears. Nicole Searles went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer in the seventh inning. Bethanie Boccelli also had three hits.

UMF is 3-1 and Bowdoin 1-1.
