BANGOR — WLBZ-TV Channel 2 will honor young people in Maine for public service efforts through its annual America’s Future Awards campaign for grades six through 12.

Six winners will be chosen and honored at a luncheon in Bangor during June and then featured in a TV special. Each will receive $100 to give to charity.

To qualify for an award, a student must have tutored or provided other support services to fellow students, be involved in drug abuse prevention, environmental or other social service causes, or have volunteered at local hospitals or other community agencies.

Nominations must be received by Monday, May 1, and should include the student’s name, age, address and telephone number, school or nonprofit agency, a description of contributions and how the nominee is a role model.

Send nominations to Channel 2’s America’s Future Awards, P.O. Box 415, Bangor 04401-0415.
