UMaine’s Harrington no-hits St. Joseph’s 1-0

STANDISH – Cindy Harrington threw a no-hitter, striking out 13, as the University of Maine Black Bears blanked St. Joseph’s 1-0 in softball action Thursday.

Maine won the second game 3-1.

Harrington walked only one, and the Bears did not allow a runner past second base as they handed Monks pitcher Kellee Murphy her first loss of the year.

In the nightcap, Katie Gamache’s two-run single in the sixth gave the Bears a 3-0 lead. St. Joe’s scored its run in the bottom of the seventh on a double by Lisa Pichaske and a single by Heather Basso, but Harrington came on to get the last out for the save. Starter Mary Persson got the win.
