SAN FRANCISCO — The gender balance of the Internet, long believed to be nine men for every woman, has narrowed to slightly less than 2-to-1, a research firm said Thursday.
While the survey conducted in December did not include commercial on-line services like Prodigy that only recently started providing Internet access, it provides a general indication that women have become more comfortable with electronic communication.
