In response to all the people writing to the negative side of the YWCA director’s decision not to accept money for lesbian cancer education, I must say, “Lighten up.”

First, I don’t feel we are in any position to make judgments about the decisions until we’ve “walked a mile in their shoes,” as the saying goes.

Second, I would hate to think that my mother, my sisters, my daughter or I could not be eligible for the cancer education programs, provided now for everyone, because we are not lesbians.

I say that they made the best decision under the circumstances, and ask that they keep up the good works that they do for everyone in the community. Nancy R. Bragg Eddington
