GREENVILLE — Greenville selectmen want public comment on holding the annual town meeting and school budget meeting on Friday and Saturday, June 23-24 this year, rather than the usual Monday and Tuesday evenings.

Those wishing to give their input should contact one of the selectmen before Wednesday, May 17, when they meet next.

A net municipal budget of about $525,000 will be acted upon by residents at the annual town meeting, as approved by selectmen this week. Some minor changes are still expected to the budget, according to Town Manager David Cota.

Cota said selectmen will recommend that residents authorize the use of up to $5,000 from the animal shelter account to make some repairs to the municipal building.

Selectmen in a 3-2 vote were not in favor of recommending to residents that curbside garbage collection be funded through municipal government.

They will recommend to residents that a reduction be made in the library account, because that account had substantial increases over the past two years.
