Vikings avenge loss to Royalettes with four runs in eighth

JONESPORT – The Searsport Vikings avenged a Wednesday night loss to Jonesport-Beals with a four-run outburst in the top of the eighth inning that gave the Vikings a 6-2 high school softball victory Thursday.

Angela Lavin stroked a two-run double to highlight the extra-inning rally. Kara Webster and Shanna Geary each finished with two singles for the winners.

Jan Beal belted a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning for Jonesport-Beals to send the game into extra innings. Rachel Beal had two singles and Stacey Beal tripled.

Presque Isle, 9-4, Bangor 2-9

At Presque Isle, the Rams and the Wildcats both ended their respective seasons with a split of their doubleheader.

In the opener, Presque Isle freshman Tracy Richardson pitched a four-hitter, struck out 10, and walked six. Heather Norsworthy paced the ‘Cats with three singles and three runs scored. Nicole Gamblin singled twice and stroked a double, while Julie Fulton singled and doubled.

For Bangor, Julie Murray cracked two singles.

In the second game, Bangor’s Becca Kinney went 4-for-4 with a double to power the Rams’ attack.

Jamie Owens drove in a pair of runs on two singles, and Erin Hewes had a single, double and two RBIs.

Norsworthy doubled and singled to lead the Wildcats.

Old Town 8, Nokomis 3

At Nokomis, the Indians jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead before coasting to the victory.

Shannon Field had a two-RBI triple to pace the Old Town attack. Jess Eddy got the win and had a double, while Jessie Stone had two singles for the Indians.

Meg Costedio had a triple and Kelly Bowman had a double for Nokomis.

Sumner 27, Narraguagus 7

At Harrington, the Tigers of Sumner feasted on Narraguagus pitching, piling up 21 hits.

Joslyn Brenton, fueled the attack with two doubles, two singles and five RBIs. Leslee Brenton singled twice, doubled and drove in three runs, while Amy Stevens and Brittany Willey cracked three singles apiece.

For Narraguagus, Jen Look rapped a triple and two singles. Betsy Allen and Katie Noyes each singled twice.

At Harrington, the Knights pounded out 14 hits on the way to victory.

Dan Curtis had a double, single and three RBIs to pace the Narraguagus attack. Robby Worcester had a double and three RBIs. Kameron Grant and Mickey Willey each had two singles for the winners.

James Schwartz had two singles and two RBIs and Manny Olivas had an RBI double to lead Sumner.

Nokomis 8, Old Town 7

At Nokomis, the Warriors scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, cashing in on three errors, to grab the victory.

Spenser Day had an RBI triple and Josh Morse had two singles to pace Nokomis.

Shawn Deshain had two doubles and three RBIs and Sean Dickey had two singles and two RBIs to lead Old Town.

Bangor 10-13, Presque Isle 6-15

At Presque Isle, the visiting Rams won their 14th game of the year in the first half of a Thursday afternoon doubleheader before Presque Isle came back in the second game to earn a split with the Rams in a wild slugfest. Both teams combined for eight home runs in the two games.

In the opener, Matt Kinney belted two solo home runs and Josh Jamieson slugged a two-run homer to pace the Rams’ offense. Andy Robichaud added a double and single.

Tim Underwood and John Sewall each cranked two-run homers for Presque Isle, while Mark Yeager added a solo blast.

In the second game, George Graves walloped a pair of two-run homers and had five RBIs to lead Presque Isle.

Tim Underwood smacked three singles good for four RBIs. Adam Daigle had two singles and a double, while Mark Yeager’s two singles drove in two runs.

Josh Jamieson powered the Rams with two singles and five RBIs. Andy Robichaud plated two runs on a double and single.
