PEMBROKE — A public discussion by all school boards and municipal officials in the Lubec-Eastport area will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at the elementary school.
“There is no agenda. We’ll just be throwing out a lot of ideas,” said Albion Goodwin, one of the meeting’s promoters from Pembroke. “It will be a wide-open discussion.”
The focus of the meeting, however, is expected to be on local education costs and property taxes. In recent months, Lubec and Eastport have held numerous meetings to discuss ways and means of sharing or consolidating education facilities and programs, and how to work more efficiently together as town governments and school systems.
