Three first-time titlists emerged from the state high school Class A and C outdoor track championships at Bowdoin College in Brunswick and the Cony High School track in Augusta on Saturday.

Western Maine teams won all four titles.

The Biddeford boys and Morse girls from Bath claimed their first Class A crowns. The Winthrop girls did likewise in Class C. Meanwhile, the Winthrop boys won their third straight C championship.

The best Eastern Maine team performances were turned in by the Orono boys and the Sumner boys, who finished second and third in the C event. Orono’s 65 points and Sumner’s 60 trailed Winthrop’s 83.

Orono and Hodgdon finished fourth and fifth in the C girls meet with 49 and 27.5 points. Winthrop (105 1/2), Traip Academy of Kittery (55) and Boothbay Region (54) were the top three.

In the Class A championships, the top Eastern Maine showings were turned in by the Old Town and Brewer boys. They tied for fourth with 30 points behind Biddeford (63), Cheverus of Portland (46) and South Portland (40).

In the girls competition, Bangor finished in a tie for seventh and the Old Town girls were ninth.

The Morse girls rang up 85 points in winning the event. Biddeford was second with 52 and Mt. Ararat of Topsham was third with 50.

Villanova University-bound Cuyler Goodwin of Mount Ararat won four events to headline the Class A event. She raced to victory in the 100, 200, 400 and 800.

The other girls who won multiple events were Morse’s Caroline Chapin in the long and triple jumps; Alison Tostevin in the javelin and discus; Waterville’s Jenna Richardson in the 1600 and 3200, and Thornton Academy of Saco’s Nicole Motil in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles. Tostevin also finished second in the shot put.

Meet records were established by Motil in the 100 hurdles in 14.95 seconds and the Biddeford 4-by-100 relay team of Nicole Binette, Stela Striligas, April Lavertu and Briana Neault as they clocked a 50.95.

Old Town’s Andy Sibley was the only double winner in the boys meet as he turned in a long jump of 20 feet, 7 inches and also triumphed in the 200 in 23.41 seconds. Brewer’s Peter Phelan won the triple jump with a combination of 43 feet, 5 3/4 inches.

In the Class C meet, Winthrop junior T.J. Caouette led his team to the championship by winning four individual events. Caouette triumphed in the shot put (53-4 1/2), javelin (173-9), triple jump (41-11 3/4) and discus (138-9).

Orono High School’s Craig Sidell and Yarmouth’s Matt Lane were the other double winners. Sidell captured the 100 and 200 meter dashes in 11.4 and 23.3 seconds, while Lane won the 1600 (4:22.2) and 3200 (9:49.6).

Sumner of East Sullivan’s Parker Pruett finished second behind Lane in both distance races.

Sumner’s Emil Thomann triumphed in the 400 meters in 50.9 seconds.

Meanwhile, Orono’s 4-by-100 relay team of Sidell, Aaron Gavett, Ralph Polk and Robbie Pyle won in 44.6 seconds, and Sumner’s 4-by-400 relay team of Chris Wentworth, Davey Seward, Matt Micalizzi and Thomann won in 3:29.4.

In the girls event, Providence College-bound Gladys Ganiel of Harrington’s Narraguagus High School concluded her sensational career by winning the 1600 in 5:08.1 and 3200 in 11:06.1. Boothbay Region’s Elizabeth Beck and Andrea Lowery were the other double winners. Beck won the long and triple jumps and Lowery captured the discus and shot put.
