High school baseball and softball players from Aroostook County will play annual all-star games today in Presque Isle.

Thirty baseball players selected from various county high schools will converge on Presque Isle’s James Dyer Memorial Field at noon. The softball game starts at 7 p.m. at Pool Field.

Presque Isle coach Tim Olore and Central Aroostook coach Rick Bragg will each coach one of the baseball teams, while Limestone’s Brent O’Neal, Fort Fairfield’s Jeanette Peters, Fort Kent’s Dick Fortin, and Caribou’s Sue White will coach the softball teams.

Along with the all-star games, additional competitions will take place. A home run contest for baseball players will start at 10 a.m. at Dyer Field. The softball players will compete in a long ball contest of their own at 5 p.m. at Pool Field.

The event is sponsored by Arby’s, Burger King, Coca-Cola, Kmart, Smythe’s, and IGA Plus.
