AUGUSTA — A new round of legislation cracking down on dangerous truckers was enacted by the Senate and sent to the governor Friday.

The bill would set a mandatory minimum fine of $250 for truckers who violate rules on logbook entries and permissible hours of driving.

A bill to expand criminal penalties against tired or impaired truckers who are involved in serious accidents is expected to receive final Senate approval pending a fund review at the end of the session.
