PRESQUE ISLE — Residents in Aroostook County will be provided with more information about HIV and AIDS through a one-year grant awarded through a cooperative effort by HEALTH 1st and Visiting Nurses of Aroostook.

The Maine Community AIDS Partnership, a collaborative project of the United Way of Greater Portland the Maine Community Foundation, is making it possible to bring more resources to the state for HIV prevention and services.

The project’s main challenge will be to change the attitudes toward people who are HIV-positive or living with AIDS, said Debra Madore of Presque Isle, who was hired by Health 1st as the community education specialist-AIDS director.
