Brad Wheaton fashioned a four-hitter and struck out 12 batters to lead Millinocket past Border 10-2, highlighting District 3 Little League All-Star action around the area Wednesday. Millinocket’s win forced a rematch between the two teams today in Hodgdon with both sides facing elimination.
In other 11- and 12-year-old play, Bangor East ousted Hampden 13-3 and Eastport eliminated Machias 18-13. Bangor East and Brewer will meet today in Brewer. Eastport will travel to play undefeated Calais on Friday.
In District 2’s 9- and 10-year-old Little League playoffs, Knox-Suburban eliminated Waldoboro 13-12. Knox-Suburban will play Camden today in Camden.
In Junior Little League (age 13), Bangor stopped Millinocket 7-4 and Brewer beat Old Town 15-9 in eight innings. Old Town will play Millinocket on Friday at 5 p.m. and Brewer will take on Bangor at 9 a.m. Saturday. Both games are at Mansfield Complex in Bangor.
In Little League softball, Old Town topped Bangor East 9-6. Old Town will next take on Bangor West on Friday in Bangor.
The only Senior League softball game on the slate saw Moosebec outscore Acadia 35-25. Moosebec will host Bangor on Friday in Jonesport.
District 3
Millinocket 10, Border 2
At Millinocket, Steve Rolfe paced the winners at the plate with a triple and double good for two RBIs. Wheaton, who allowed only one walk, aided his own cause with a triple and single. T.J. Dickinson hit a pair of singles and Ryan Sweeney slapped a two-run single.

Eastport 18, Machias 13
At Eastport, Larry Bowen notched the win and helped himself out with three singles and three RBIs as Eastport came out on top.
Chris Paul and John Ingersoll each doubled and singled while Ryan Moore hit two singles. Paul also had two RBIs.
For Machias, Brent Colbeth hit two singles and Barrett Craven and Derek Jordan each added a double.

Bangor East 13, Hampden 3
At Bangor, Bangor East continued its winning ways with a six-run second inning to put Hampden on the eliminated list.
Evan Wade had a double and single, and Brian Caggiano had a double for Bangor East. Pitcher Jason Thomas struck out eight and walked two in fashioning the five-hitter.
For Hampden, Josh Sporacio knocked out two singles and Pete Hastings had a double.

At Union, Brady Butler singled to center field to score Scott Hastings with the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning, giving Knox-Suburban the win.
Mike Beardsley topped the winners with a double and single while Jim Sturks cracked two singles.

Old Town 9, Bangor East 6
At Bangor, Old Town’s three-run fifth inning saved them from elimination.
Erin Ouellette led all hitters with two singles and a double. Carol Glidden came up with a double, and Heather McLaughlin and Jamie Higgins each had a single.
For Bangor East, Kara Holland had two singles.

Moosebec 35, Acadia 25
At Jonesport, host Moosebec piled up 35 runs on 20 hits while winning the high-scoring affair.
Tricia Carver ripped three doubles and singled to lead Moosebec. Samantha Stewart singled three times and Tammy Alley singled twice and doubled.
For Acadia, Rachel Mansfield hit a double and single. Kim Beakman scored five runs and Ingrid Sunbery added two singles.

At Mansfield Complex, Bangor handed Millinocket its first loss in the opening round.
Travis Brooker’s two-run single put Bangor up for good in the fifth inning. Danny Martin had a pair of singles and RBIs, and Jeremy Karam drove in a run with his double.
For Millinocket, Josh Emerson and Jason Folsom each doubled.

At Bangor, Ryan Hatch slapped a two-run single and Greg Hawes added a one-run single to highlight Brewer’s six-run eighth inning in the victory.
Hatch finished with three singles and Hawes singled twice and doubled.
Mark Ellis hit an RBI double for Old Town and Ryan Nadeau chipped in with a run-producing single.
