ORONO – Ron Mayo laced a double to left-center field to score Greg Domarecki with the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning Tuesday night at Mahaney Diamond as Mid-Maine edged Wicks 3-2 in Eastern Maine Amateur Baseball League playoff action.
Wicks will play Thursday at 7:30 p.m. against the loser of Wednesday night’s game between Old Town-Orono and Molunkus, and Mid-Maine will play Wednesday’s winner at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
After Wicks took a 2-1 lead in the top of the seventh inning on Justin Shaw’s RBI double, Mid-Maine tied it on Rex Turner’s RBI double in the bottom half of the inning to send the game into extra innings.
Mid-Maine pitcher Kevin Main struck out 14 and walked none. Ken Reed and Domarecki each finished with two singles for the winners.
For Wicks, Mark Reed hit two singles, while Shaw had a single to go with his RBI double.
