ORONO – Rick Burgess used his fifth hit of the night, a two-run single in the seventh, to give Old Town-Orono a 12-11 win over Wicks in Eastern Maine Amateur Baseball League playoff action at Mahaney Diamond Thursday night.
By eliminating Wicks, Old Town-Orono advances to play Sunday against the loser of Friday’s Mid-Maine vs. Molunkus.
Burgess had four singles and a two-run homer in the sixth inning to pace the 18-hit Double O’s attack. Jason Tardy had two doubles, Tony Fernandez had a single and a double and Chris Hashey and Andy Boure each had two singles.
The Canines were led by Mark Halstead’s single and triple. Mark Reed had two singles and Troy Varney had a single and double.
