I’ve just read Barbara Yost’s Aug. 7 Oped column, “Heroines should be honored,” and I am furious after learning that Speaker Newt Gingrich wants to have statues of Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Coffin Mott, who helped women win the right to vote, banished to the basement of the Capitol, while only men stand in the rotunda.
Hear me, lady voters of America: if 51 percent of our country is female, I suggest we gals not cast one single vote for Gingrich if he gets the nomination. Patricia H. Thurston Bass Harbor
