ASHLAND – Ashland Hornets freshman goalie Courtney Junkins turned away all seven shots she faced and Renee Saucier scored two goals to lead Ashland to a 2-0 victory over Washburn in schoolgirl soccer action Wednesday.

Angela Theriault and Heidi Maker each had assists to help pace the Hornets in their opener.

For 0-1-1 Washburn, Shannon Henthorn made nine saves on 12 Ashland shots.

Central Aroostook 2, Wisdom 1

At St. Agatha, Central Aroostook’s Carly Smith found the goal twice in the midst of a 28-shot attack on Pioneer goalie Jen Derosier, who made 14 saves.

Panther goalie Misty Hewitt made five saves on 10 shots as Central Aroostook of Mars Hill ups its record to 1-1.

For 1-1 Wisdom, Tracy Guerrette’s goal was assisted by Melissa Textor.

Hodgdon 3, Easton 1

At Hodgdon, Wendy Ivey netted two goals to carry the Hawks to the win in their opener.

Jessica London added a goal for the winners and Lisa Campbell notched two assists. Jodi Quint recorded seven saves on eight shots.

For Easton, now 0-2, Renovia McKinney scored the only goal. Goalkeeper Jamie Hewitt made 17 saves on 23 shots.

Ft. Fairfield 1, Madawaska 1, 2OT

At Fort Fairfield, the Owls jumped out to the early lead on a Dana Ouellette goal in the first but Lindsay Nightingale tied it up in the second half, sending the teams into double overtime.

Nightingale’s goal was assisted by Tammie Girard. Fort Fairfield goalie Devin Jewitt made 10 saves on 11 shots for the 0-0-1 Tigers.

For 1-1 Madawaska, Michelle Hebert made 11 saves on 13 shots.

Boys soccer

Hodgdon 2, Easton 1

At Hodgdon, Aaron Henderson scored both Hawk goals, picking up assists from Adam Carter and a game-winner from Jeremy White while recording their first win.

Hodgdon goalie Evan Clark notched 14 saves on 16 shots for the 1-0 Hawks.

For 0-2 Easton, Scott MacIntyre scored an unassisted goal. Chris Cote made 16 saves on 21 shots.

Wisdom 3, Central Aroostook 1

At St. Agatha, Keith Michaud recorded two goals and Craig Thibeault added a third for the 2-0 Pioneers.

Goalie Chad Bouchard made 22 saves on 25 Panther shots.

For 0-1 Central Aroostook, Chad Boyd scored the Panthers’ goal. Goalie Evan Kearney made 19 saves on 25 shots.

Ft. Fairfield 1, Madawaska 1, 2OT

At Fort Fairfield, Eddie Marshall’s direct kick at the second half’s 19:32 mark sent the Owls into double overtime against the Panthers.

Madawaska goalie Shawn Pelletier made six saves on 19 shots for the 0-0-1 Owls.

For 0-0-1 Fort Fairfield, Donnie DeMerchant scored in the first half. Goalie Ian Hyslop made 12 saves on 23 shots.

Ashland 10, Washburn 0

At Washburn, Ashland’s Darren Belskis scored twice, assisted on another goal and combined with Lee Bennett in goal to blank Washburn.

Paul Harold and Jason Legassie each scored two goals for the Hornets, now 1-0. Joel Dubay, Matt Gagnon, Jarrod Carney and Ryan Olberding contributed a goal apiece. Belskis and Bennett comnined for 10 saves on 10 shots.

For Washburn, Eric Brown and Nick Thompson teamed up to make 29 saves on 37 shots in a busy afternoon.
