Police investigate theft of splitter from woodlot

GUILFORD — A homemade wood splitter valued at approximately $4,500 was stolen Tuesday from a woods operation on Route 15 in Guilford. Deputy Scott Richardson of the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department said two large rocks were removed to gain access to Ron Priest’s cutting operation.

GUILFORD — A homemade wood splitter valued at approximately $4,500 was stolen Tuesday from a woods operation on Route 15 in Guilford.

Deputy Scott Richardson of the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department said two large rocks were removed to gain access to Ron Priest’s cutting operation.

Richardson said the 10-foot wood splitter had a 14-horsepower motor attached to it.
