Owl girls remain undefeated

MADAWASKA – Michele Dufour and Tiffany Nelson each scored unassisted goals to lift Madawaska High School to a 2-0 schoolgirl soccer win over Houlton here Friday.

Goalie Michele Hebert knocked down 14 of 18 shots for the winners, now 4-0-2.

For Houlton, which slipped to 2-2, Stacey McNutt faced 19 shots and recorded 11 saves.

So. Aroostook 2, Cen. Aroostook 1

At Mars Hill, Suzanne Greenlaw’s second half goal off an assist from Raelynn Rockwell gave the visiting Warriors from Dyer Brook the win over Central Aroostook.

For the 1-0 Warriors, Rachel Bishop scored on Jana Walker’s assist and Hilary Slauenwhite saved six of seven shots.

Jessica Clark scored the lone goal unassisted for the 2-4 Panthers. Misty Hewitt had 12 saves on 14 shots.

Fort Fairfield 3, Fort Kent 0

At Fort Fairfield, Tammie Girard had a second half hat trick on her 17th birthday to lead the host Tigers past Fort Kent.

April Whitmore and Melinda Mraz each has assists for the 3-0-2 Tigers. Devin Jewitt saved all four shots she faced for her first shutout.

Andrea Marquis saved 26 of 29 shots for the 0-3 Warriors.

Presque Isle 3, Caribou 1

At Caribou, goals from Stacey Kinney, Jamie Madore and Billie Hayward sparked the win for the Wildcats.

Shawn Callihan stopped 10 of 14 shots she faced in the nets for Presque Isle, now 2-0.

Erin Cole-Karagory scored the lone goal for Caribou, now 1-2. Jackie Mignon and Meagan Lombard combined to make nine saves on 12 shots.

Boys soccer

Hodgdon 2, Limestone 1

At Limestone, Aaron Henderson’s goal 8:12 into the second half broke a 1-1 tie and gave Hodgdon its win over Limestone.

Adam Carter scored a first-half goal for Hodgdon off a Darren Stewart pass. Hodgdon goalie Evan Clark made five saves on 17 shots.

Woody Anderson scored for Limestone off a direct free kick and Eagle goalie David Patrick made five saves on 12 shots.

Fort Fairfield 2, Fort Kent 2

At Fort Fairfield, Jon Lauzier’s goal with 12:25 left off a Bart Plourde cross enabled Fort Kent to tie Fort Fairfield.

Ryan Martin scored from the penalty spot for 1-0-2 Fort Kent and goalie Corey Thibodeau made eight saves on 14 shots.

Donnie DeMerchant scored both goals for the 2-1-2 Tigers with both coming off Dave Bernard crosses. Fort Fairfield goalie Ian Hyslop made 17 stops on 28 shots.

Houlton 3, Madawaska 1

At Houlton, Ben Goodwin’s two second-half goals, off assists by Lukas Ritchie and Don Rafford, gave Houlton its win over Madawaska.

Chris Bell scored in the first half for Houlton off a Chris Spencer pass but Luke Pennington equalized for Madawaska.

Ryan Tremblay made seven saves for Houlton while Ryan Cyr turned aside 14 shots for Madawaska.

Wisdom 4, Washburn 1

At Washburn, Craig Thibeault scored a pair of goals and assisted on Keith Michaud’s goal to lead Washburn to its fourth win against a tie and a loss.

Eric Soucy had an unassisted goal for the winners and goalie Chad Bouchard made seven saves.

Travor Collins scored for 1-4 Washburn off a Ryan Doody pass. Nick Thompson made nine stops.

Caribou 4, Presque Isle 3

At Caribou, Andrea Oliverio scored three first-half goals as Caribou built a 4-1 halftime lead and held off the rallying Wildcats in the second half.

Jay Plourde had the other goal for Caribou and Jamie Bell and Ryan Soucie had assists on Oliverio goals. Goalie Jason St. Peter made six saves for the 1-2 Vikings.

Kasey Keenan had a goal and an assist for 0-2 Presque Isle. Eric Saucier and Trevor Folsom had the other goals with Mike Paleafei notching two assists.

Ryan Czosnek and Gene Cronin combined for seven saves in the Wildcat goal.
