DOVER-FOXCROFT — Ideas, concerns and new growing techniques will all be part of Greenhouse Encounter ’95, an event for greenhouse growers throughout the state to be held on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 9-10, at the Piscataquis Valley Fairgrounds in Dover-Foxcroft. The event is sponsored by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension and the Mid-Maine Greenhouse Growers Association.
Ed McLaughlin, commissioner of agriculture, will give the keynote address followed by the sharing of ideas on how to save time and money.
Dr. Jim Dill and Dr. Lois Stack of the Extension will discuss the facts surrounding insects, diseases and nutrient deficiencies in greenhouse crops. This will be followed by hands-on sessions with representatives of the Extension, Maine Department of Agriculture and the University of Maine Soil Test Laboratory showing participants how to scout and take nutrient samples.
