Police in 2 towns remind drivers not to pass buses

MILO — The Milo and Brownville police remind motorists that school is in session in the Penquis area and that they will encounter bus traffic in the early morning and late afternoon.

State law states that bus drivers only need obtain the license plate number of a vehicle passing a stopped school bus with its red lights activated. The penalty for violating the law is not less than $50 or more than $250.

A person who is the registered owner of a vehicle also is liable if it passes a bus with lights flashing.
