PORTLAND – Pitcher Antonio Alfonseca’s colossal two-run homer helped the Portland Sea Dogs take a 12-10 win over the Reading Phillies Monday in the Eastern League.
Alfonseca’s blast, which hit the left-field light stanchion 35 feet above the ground, capped the final game of the regular season.
Reading (73-69) scored a solo run in the first inning, on David Doster’s sacrifice fly.
Chris Sheff’s two-run homer put the Sea Dogs (86-56) up 2-1 in the first.
An eight-run third inning sent Portland up 10-1. Key hits were Tim Clark’s bases-loaded single, Lou Lucca’s full-house double and Alfonseca’s homer.
