ORONO – Freshman forward Dedra DeLilli converted a Margaret Henrick assist with 12:17 remaining to give the University of Maine Black Bears a 2-1 comeback win over Towson State in their North Atlantic Conference opener Friday.
Karen Hebert tied the game with 21:56 left, three minutes after Amy Gorecki had broken the scoreless tie for Towson State off a Cybil Housh assist.
Cindy Botett made 10 saves on 13 shots for 4-1 Maine while Kelly Brachy made 14 saves on 17 shots for 2-1 Towson State.
Gordon College 3, UMF 2 (OT)
At Farmington, Jessica Edwards converted a penalty stroke with five minutes left in overtime, giving Gordon College the win.
Kelly Hamilton notched a goal and an assist for the 2-2 winners. Amy Beth Faul added a goal and Tina Koop made seven saves.
Kelly Duffy and Sharon Fuller each scored for 0-2 UMF. Nicole Searles recorded seven saves.
Men’s soccer
Unity 11, NMTC 1
At Presque Isle, Scott Francis led a powerful Unity attack, scoring three goals and an assist.
Mike Shepard booted in a goal and set up three more and Adam Gray scored two goals for Unity. Heath Stiefken stopped three of seven shots in goal.
Morgan Davenport scored the only goal for Northern Maine Tech.
EMTC 3, New Brunswick 2
At Bangor, Jeremy Brooks’ goal at 32:34 of the second half broke a 2-2 tie to give the Golden Eagles the win over New Brunswick Community.
Brooks scored twice, each unassisted, and Craig McCorrison added another as goalie Chris Chambers stopped three of six. EMTC goes 1-2.
For 0-2 New Brunswick, Sean Birplay tallied two unassisted goals. Carrie Dixon saved nine on 16 attempts.
