DEXTER – Josh Annis racked up 136 yards on eight carries and scored a pair of touchdowns for the Dexter Tigers in a 26-6 downing of John Bapst of Bangor in schooboy football action Saturday.

James Kirk put Dexter up 6-0 in the first quarter with a two-yard run and connected on a 66-yard pass from Brad Sherwood in the third. Annis added a 62-yard run in the second quarter and a 51-yard run in the fourth.

Kirk ran for 70 yards on 13 carries and quarterback Sherwood went 5 for 12 for 109 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, Brent Cunnigham contributed with eight tackles, four solo and two sacks, as Dexter limited John Bapst to 68 yards on the ground. Cornerback Annis added seven tackles, two solo, and had two of Dexter’s fivAnnis added seven tackles, two solo, and had two of Dexter’s five interceptions.

For John Bapst, Mike Aldrich hauled in a 37-yard pass from Scott Tremble for the fourth-quarter TD. Aldrich caught 10 passes for 120 yards as Tremble went 17-34 for 248 yards.

At Waterville, Jason Fortin’s 35-yard field goal gave the Panthers the win in overtime.

Fortin also converted on his point-after attempt in the fourth quarter after Adam Hamel’s 7-yard touchdown run.

Oxford Hills’ Miguel Gonzales hauled in a 3-yard pass from Mike Loveless to take a 6-0 lead in the second quarter. Loveless kicked the extra point.

At Pittsfield, Ben Preston scooted 108 yards on 22 carries and four touchdowns to lead the Ponies to their first win Friday night.

Brent Slater put Foxcroft Academy on the board first with a 43-yard run in the first quarter. Preston scored twice in the third quarter on a pair of 2-yard runs, and then intercepted a Jason Cummings’ pass and ran for 20 yards for the score.

Steve Smith had a hand in 10 tackles.

At Calais, Megan Lane scored off a Joslyn Brenton cross at the 19:09 mark of the second half to give the Tigers the victory.

Goalie Marita Buteau was a flawless four-of-four in net as Sumner moves to 4-1.

For 1-2 Calais, Rachel Clark saved eight of 10 shots.

George Stevens 3, Penquis 2

At Milo, a Katrina Chase direct kick with 13 seconds left on the clock gave the Eagles the win.

Emily Lewandowski and Kara Henderson goals tied the game for the Eagles as the Chase goal was the eventual game-winner.

For 1-4 Penquis, Erin Weston and Brandy Robinson chipped in a goal apiece.

Central 1, Dexter 1 (OT)

At East Corinth, Tabitha Trafton’s goal at the 22:07 mark in the second half tied the game up and saved the Red Devils from a homecoming loss.

Kerri Higgins assisted Trafton’s goal for 1-1-2 Central. Kristi Clement made 11 saves on 12 shots.

For 1-2-1 Dexter, Sarah DiSotto put the Tigers up 1-0 with 8:18 left in the first half, when she sent a Morgan Titus pass into the Central net. Kim Breton had nine saves on 10 shots.

John Bapst 1, Hermon 1 (2OT)

At Bangor, Kiera Dorr’s goal off a Jen Stewart assist tied it up at 21:50 in the second as the Hawks hung in through the overtime.

For 3-1-1 Hermon, Pam Poland made nine saves on 15 shots.

The 2-2-1 Crusaders received an unassisted goal from Lisa Groesenek at 32:29 in the second half. Katie Lawler made eight saves on 13 shots.

MCI 3, Belfast 2

At Pittsfield, the 4-1-1 Huskies got goals from three different players to edge the Lions.

Goals from Kristen Johnson, Karen Brown, and Andy Kane were all Alycia Kerr and Jesse Brooks would need as they combined for seven saves on 10 shots.

For 0-3-1 Belfast, Shirah Sinclair and Amy Larrebee each added a goal. Andi Woodbury rejected 16 of 25 shots.

MDI 4, Ellsworth 1

At Mount Desert, Shelagh Slack’s two goals and assist gave the 3-1 Trojans the victory over the 1-5 Eagles.

Slack’s first goal came unassisted and the second from Colleen Maynard. She also set up a Jamey Lewis goal as Miaja Kaldro rounded out the scoring from Erica Harper and Melody Scalfone. Goalies Anna Salvatore and Lacey Richards combined for six saves on nine shots.

Nicole Shedeck scored the Ellsworth goal from Nell Donaldson. Jessica Desmond stopped nine of 16 attempts.

Bangor 2, Old Town 1

At Bangor, goals from Kathy Fleming and Kori Dionne sparked the Rams.

Bangor’s goals were both scored in the first with Fleming’s coming at 38:19 and Dionne’s at 3:44. Emily Morse recorded assists on both goals as goalie Anne Wright stopped three of five Indian attempts. Bangor moves to 4-1.

Jessica Eddy added a late tally for 0-5 Old Town. Kendra Brown saved seven on 16 Ram shots.

Boys soccer

Hampden 4, Caribou 1

At Hampden, four players each scored a goal to spark the Broncos.

Kyle Pelkey, Brandon Leyro, Rob King and Mike Roberts all scored for 4-1 Hampden, with assists provided by Jeff Minehart, Mike McInnis, and Ian Dilts. Keeper Aaron Peppard made two saves on four attempts.

For 2-6 Caribou, Ryan McCullough came up with an unassisted goal with 3:49 off the clock in the second half. Goalies Jason St. Peter and Dan Funk combined for four saves on 19 shots.

Jones.-Beals 4, DI-Stonington 0

At Deer Isle, Jason Lawson paced the undefeated Royals with two goals as goalie Byron Carver earned the shutout.

Lawson’s goals came from B.J. Alley and Shane Kenney. Steven Bean and Steven Mawson also chipped in a goal apiece. Carver was a perfect four of four in net.

For the 0-5 Mariners, Matt Coombs saved 11 on 15 shots.

Central 3, Dexter 0

At East Corinth, the Red Devils used a balanced attack as they earned their first victory.

Troy Townsend, Brian Bean, and John Hatch scored a goal apiece to help goalie Nick Parent as he saved four of five shots.

For 0-6 Dexter, Aaron Sargent stopped seven of 15 attempts.

MDI 2, Foxcroft 1

At Mount Desert, Jeff Church did the job for the Trojans, scoring twice within one minute in the first half.

Mark Ingrisano assisted on both Church goals at the 16- and 15-minute marks for 4-0-2 MDI. Kris Nelson and Alfred Doyle combined to save 12 of 16 shots.

For 4-2 Foxcroft Academy, David Speed scored on a Seth Kimball assist with 14:00 left in the first. Andy Hunt made 11 saves on 19 shots.

Field hockey

Messalonskee 3, Rockland 1

At Oakland, the Eagles outshot the Tigers 35-7 en route to victory.

Catherine Henrick led the way with two assists as she set up Marguerite Provandie and Kathryn Mathias. Melissa Sawyer added a late goal as goalie Joy Duguay stopped six of seven shots.

For Rockland, Natalie Dyer scored from Emily Gushee and Erin Stevens. Greta Gundel rejected 32 of 35 shots.

Dexter 4, Bangor 0

At Dexter, Jen Jones and Megan Titus scored two goals apiece to power the 2-2 Tigers to victory.

Jones scored one from Jessica Girard and the other unassisted and then assisted on the first Titus tally. Sarah Robbins set up the second Titus goal as goalie Christina Dorman recorded the shutout.

For the 1-4 Rams, Taryn McNichol sent back 14 of 32 shots.

Belfast 3, MCI 0

At Pittsfield, the Lions got goals from three different players and used a combination of three goalies to blank the Huskies.

Liza Bachedler, Tanya Flood, and Adrian Schmidt each added a goal. Andrea Lapierre picked up two assists as the trio of Renee Box, Katie Small, and Liz Kelley combined for a perfect 10 of 10.

For MCI, Casey Murray stopped nine of 12.
