Ridley keeps C-R unbeaten

THORNDIKE – Brian Ridley scored on a penalty kick late in the second half to give Camden-Rockport a 3-2 soccer win over Mount View of Thorndike here Wednesday.

Nathan Travers opened the scoring at 24:17 of the first half from Brian Park. Ridley then hit on two penalty kicks, one of which was the eventual game-winner to keep Camden-Rockport’s record unblemished at 6-0-1. Goalie Jim Butler sent back five of the 10 Mustang shots.

Mount View, 2-2-2, got a pair of goals from Ken Buttery, but just fell short as Andrew Stevenson stopped 22 on 34 Windjammer attempts.

Schenck 5, Searsport 1

At Searsport, the 6-1 Wolverines got a goal and two assists from Tony Turcotte to earn the win.

Tom Jamo also added two goals as Erik Gibson and Brandon Glidden had a goal apiece to round out the scoring ensemble. Goalie Andrew Robinson saved eight of 12 shots.

For 1-5-1 Searsport, Gary Roberts had a goal from Dustin Nedeau as Nate Hall rejected 10 of the 16 shots he saw.

Girls soccer

Searsport 2, Central-EC 0

At East Corinth, sisters Melanie and Jenn Shaver scored both goals in the second half while sparking Searsport to its fourth win against three losses and a tie.

Melanie scored unassisted, and Jenn connected off a feed from Chandra Roberts.

Goalie Jessica Barton preserved the shutout with three saves.

Kristi Clement made five saves for Central, now 1-2-2.

Orono 5, Sumner 0

At East Sullivan, Jessica Libby gave the Red Riots the lead with :28 remaining in the first half as they cruised to their seventh victory.

Lynn MacNevin came up with a goal and an assist, and Liz Chambers, Molly Holmberg and Lori Mehuren each had a goal for 7-0 Orono. Courtney Powers had an assist. Sue Gardner made three saves on seven shots.

For 4-3 Sumner, Marita Buteau and Stacie Warren combined to make 12 saves on 17 shots.

Bucksport 2, Ellsworth 1

At Ellsworth, Tricia Beaulieu sent the Golden Bucks into the win column again with her score at 8:49 left in the second half.

Rachel Downes had given 4-2 Bucksport the lead at 12:26 in the first half, but 2-6 Ellsworth’s Nicole Shedeck tied it up at 10:15 left in the second with a score.

Kerri Hoke mde six saves on 14 shots for Bucksport. Jessica Desmond and Cindy Bromley combined to make six saves on eight shots.

MDI 2, Hermon 0

At Hermon, Anna Salvatore made six saves on eight Hawk attempts to record the shuout for the 4-2 Trojans.

Salvatore got help on late goals from Shelagh Slack and Jamey Lewis. Lewis also was credited with an assist on the Slack tally.

For 3-3-1 Hermon Pam Poland sent back 15 of 19 shots.

Old Town 0, John Bapst 0 (OT)

At Old Town, John Bapst goalie Katie Lawler made nine saves on 14 shots while Old Town’s Kendra Brown rejected four of six shots in the scoreless tie.

Old Town’s Danielle Wentworth had the best chance of the game on a direct free kick in the first half but Lawler jumped and snared the rising shot.

Old Town is now 0-5-1 while Bapst is 1-3-2.

Bangor 5, Brewer 2

At Bangor, Sarah Parcak had a pair of goals and assisted on another to lead Bangor to its sixth win against one loss.

Cathy Flemming had a goal and an assist with Julie Murray and Emily Ayer getting the other goals. Emily Morse had an assist and goalie Anne Wright made four saves on 10 shots.

Mandy Brigalli and Amanda Hussey scored for Brewer and goalie Heather Hogan made five saves on 24 shots.

Field hockey

Mattanawcook 2, Bangor 0

At Lincoln, the Lynx dominated the game by outshooting the Rams 24-0.

Angie Hainer led 3-2-2 Mattanawcook with a goal and assist. Hainer’s goal came off a penalty stroke at the 24:28 mark of the second. Hainer then assisted on Candy Taylor’s tally at 17:11 of the second. Angie Brawn was in goal for the winners.

For Bangor, Taryn McNicol saved 17 of the 24 shots she faced.

JV: Mattanawcook 5, Bangor 0

Central 4, Stearns 1

At Millinocket, Joy Allen’s two goals lifted the 1-4-1 Central of East Corinth Red Devils to victory.

Emily Stupak and Jessica Shorette also added goals as goalie Monica Cookson stopped seven of 11.

For the 0-4-2 Minutemen, Holly Arsenault saved 19 on 25 Central attempts.

Piscataquis 4, Dexter 1

At Dexter, Darby Smiley’s goal with 5:54 remaining in the first gave the Pirates the win.

Heather Dexter, Jaime Durant, and Jessica Russell each had a goal, and keeper Jen Moore made seven saves on 19 shots for 4-2-1 PCHS of Guilford.

For 3-3 Dexter, Jen Jones scored on a Jessica Girard assist. Christina Dorman made one save on five shots.

Brewer 2, Orono 1 (OT)

At Brewer, Stefanie Kunz handed the Red Riots their first loss when knocked home the Witches’ winning goal 1:10 into overtime.

Jaime Ferris had put the 5-1 Witches up 1-0 at the 26:48 mark in the second half, but Ashley Stinson’s goal tied it up for 6-1 Orono.

Brewer’s Trisha Boone made nine saves on 10 shots while her Orono counterpart made six saves on 11 shots.

Boothbay 1, Maranacook 0

At Boothbay, Betsy Beck scored an unassisted goal 6:05 into the second half as the host Boothbay Region Seahawks notched a win.

Heather Reed saved nine of 11 shots for the 2-5 Seahawks.

Paige Holmes stopped four of five shots for 2-4 Maranacook of Readfield.
