Restaurant scuffle leads to Milo man’s arrest

BROWNVILLE — A Milo man was charged with assault after he was involved in a fight with police and with another man at a Brownville restaurant Thursday night.

Scott Stubbs of the Brownville Police Department said police were called to the River’s Edge Restaurant after an argument erupted between Paul Demerski, 50, and Brian Snide, 30, both of Milo. Snide reportedly owed money to Demerski, Stubbs said, and Demerski subsequently had taken out a protection order against Snide.

When police asked Snide to step outside of the restaurant, he resisted and began fighting with police. Stubbs received bruises, and his glasses and watch were broken. Backup was called and Snide was taken to Mayo Regional Hospital for evaluation, then transported to the Piscataquis County Jail, where he remained Friday on $750 bail.

Snide will be arraigned Monday, Stubbs said.
