PITTSFIELD — The Maine Department of Transportation has begun to paint the Peltoma Bridge, which carries Peltoma Avenue over the Sebasticook River at the Pittsfield-Detroit town line.

The top paving surface has been replaced and deck joints sealed, DOT officials said. With the repainting, the bridge will be in good condition for several years.

During the painting, traffic will be routed on alternate one-way trips over the bridge with a temporary signal. The project will be completed by mid-November.
