Rep. Robert Tufts, R-Stockton Springs, did not sponsor an emergency bill that allowed the Searsport Water District to expand its charter into Prospect, as was reported in an article that appeared Saturday, Oct. 14, in the NEWS. The emergency bill was passed by the state House of Representatives unanimously. Tufts said he had not been asked to file a bill to protect drinking water sources in Searsport, Stockton Springs and Prospect, which the town of Prospect asked Rep. Edward J. Povich, D-Ellsworth, to do.
