OWLS HEAD — A special town meeting will be held at the town community building at 7 p.m. on Nov. 20 to discuss a request from the airport for a zoning change. In order to complete an expansion project and installation of an instrument landing system, the existing zoning must be amended, airport officials said.
At a public hearing Monday night that was attended by more than 50 residents, the zoning request was supported by Gene Kenniston, a county commissioner, Edward Sleeper, chairman of the Airport Advisory Committee, and Roland Lussier, who operates a business at the airport.
Selectmen Tom Christie said that residents should question if they should amend town zoning every time a developer wants a project approved.
