PORTLAND – The Portland Pirates’ Martin Gendron has been named the American Hockey League’s Player of the Week.

Gendron became the first Pirate to record back-to-back hat tricks. He scored three goals in a 6-4 loss to the Syracuse Crunch and he got three goals in a 4-4 tie with the Springfield Falcons.

The Pirates have called up goalie Darryl Paquette from their East Coast Hockey League affiliate, the Hampton Roads Admirals. Paquette will replace goalie Mike Torchia who will be out two to four weeks with a sprained knee.
